January 8th - "Mend-a-Heart Grief Counseling" is available through the Atlanta Human
Society for those having to deal with the loss of a beloved pet. Led by a professional
counselor on the second Saturday of each month at the Shelter in the administrative area
at 11:00 a.m. The cost is $5.00 and no appointment is necessary.

January 8th - You are invited to attend a memorial service for Evidence the Zebra at
Noah's Ark on Saturday, January 8 at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held outdoors near
the Welcome Center and will end with a Memorial Walk to Evidence's habitat.

January 11th -  Bunny 101 Classes. Calling all new adopters, previous adopters, or
anyone interested in adopting or learning more about rabbit care! Our Bunny 101 class
covers everything from apple branches to white vinegar. This is what you need to know to
make living with a house rabbit easy, healthy and fun! Reservations required. A $5.00
donation for the class covers the cost of handout materials and a healthy treat package
for your bunny. The class will be held at the North Georgia House Rabbit Society Shelter.

goes home with a coloring book, sticker, and a fun pet-related experience.  A $2
donation per child is greatly appreciated to support the animals at the Humane Society of

January 15th - REMEMBER ME Pet Loss Support by the Gwinnett Humane Society.
Discussions of the stages of grief and its effects. Share stories and pictures about your
beloved companion. Share with others who are also grieving or have experienced a
similar loss in the past. Meetings will be held at 6:30pm at the GHS Adoption Center
inside Discover Mills Mall in Duluth

while viewing highlights from the Bonhams auction “Dogs in Show and Field: The Fine Art
Sale”. Time: 6-8pm.  Benefiting the Atlanta Humane Society.

January 27th - Join us to shake off the winter blues at 3 Sheets on January 27th at 7pm.  
PAWS Atlanta has partnered with SNAP 2IT (Spay and Neuter Assistance Program) for
this event!  Admission is $15 (credit cards accepted) in advance or $20 (cash or checks
only) at the door.  Each admission includes a free drink ticket and nosh for the evening.  
Drink specials will be available throughout the event.  Silent auction and raffle items are
waiting to be won! All proceeds will be split equally between PAWS Atlanta and SNAP
2IT.

February 8th - The 2nd Annual I Love My Pet Valentine Fundraiser benefiting the
Homeless Pets Foundation from 7-11PM at Marlow's Tavern, Kennesaw. Bring your
favorite picture of your pet for photo contest - lots of different categories.Join us for drink
specials, great food, door prizes and more!

adoption event is Friday-Sunday in all PetSmart® stores in the U.S. Contact or visit your
local PetSmart® store for participation times of local animal-welfare agencies.

benefit gala for the Humane Society of Cobb County. 6:30 PM at The Earl Smith Strand
Theatre, Marietta

February 16th - "Cookies and Cakes for Cats (and Dogs)"  AARF (Atlanta Animal
Rescue Friends) will be hosting a bake sale at Agnes Scott College. We'll be in the
Evans Dining Hall from 11:30 - 2:00. If you live in the area, please come by and get some
tasty treats! We'll have enough to satisfy every sweet tooth. And the best part, every dollar
raised will support AARF's foster program.

February 19th- 3rd Annual Yappy Hour Blue Jeans Ball and Silent Auction from 6 to 10
pm Location: DeSoto Hilton (Downtown Savannah)

February 19th - Birds of Wonder, Drop-In Family Class at the Atlanta Botanical Garden
from 2 - 3 p.m. Learn about your favorite Garden birds and how they spend their winter.
Mimic the creation of a nest, and attract birds to your own home by creating a natural bird
feeder. Fee: $6/child plus Garden Admission (Members $5/child)

February 19th -  Cupids and Canines Adoption Event at Camp Bow Wow Alpharetta
The second annual Cupids & Canines celebration at 1755 Grassland Parkway in
Alpharetta from 11 am to 2 pm . The event aims to raise awareness and funds for a pack
of worthy canine causes, including several local rescues and Camp Bow Wow’s Bow
Wow Buddies Foundation.

February 24th - "HOBNOB for Hounds" at the Hobnob Neighborhood Tavern. Meet
volunteers for Mostly Mutts Animal Rescue and Adoption and learn how to get involved in
dog rescue. Light hors-d'ouevres will be served, cash bar. All proceeds benefit Mostly
Mutts.

Mar. 1-31st,  Kid's Art Contest to promote "Be Kind to Animals Week"
Deadline for all Artwork is March 31st.  Ages K-12th are invited to join the Humane
Society of Hall County as they celebrate Be Kind to Animals Week.  Themes for the
artwork should range from kindness to animals, pet adoptions, to wildlife conservation,
and protecting endangered animals.  All artists who enter will receive a Certificate of
Participation, and artists who win will look forward to an awards ceremony, prizes, and
having their artwork on display at the Humane Society.

March 5th -  "The Bully Ball" at the Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead. Come join former
UGA/Chicago Bears Kicker, Kevin Butler, and other sports celebs as they help raise
money for neglected English Bulldogs in the southeast. Black Tie Optional event with a
seated dinner followed by elegant wine tastings hosted by The Atlanta Wine School.
Special Canine Guest: "Genera", The Citadel Bulldog Mascot.

March 5th - PAWS Atlanta Night at the Thrashers!  PAWS Atlanta will be on-site with
adoptable dogs, selling tickets for the 50/50 raffle!  Purchase tickets through the PAWS
site and PAWS Atlanta will receive a portion of the proceeds.

March 10th - Ribbon Cutting Ceremonry at the Canton Paw Park. Though this is NOT
the grand opening of the park, this is the Ribbon Cutting ceremony with the Chamber of
Commerce. Starting promptly at 11am, ending by noon, we welcome anyone to come out
and celebrate this event with us! The more, the merrier! Grand Opening is on April 16th.

March 19th  - "Dixie Disc Dog Championship" at the Cherry Blossom Festival Macon.
Watch disc doggers from around the south compete in toss and fetch and freestlye.
Novice division is open to the public.  If your dog can catch and retrieve a frisbee, come
out and give it a go!

March 19th - Cornelia PetFest Cornelia, GA from 12:00 PM TO 3:00 PM. The City of
Cornelia’s Better Hometown will be hosting PetFest 2011, a family friendly pet event, on
Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the historic Community House in Cornelia, Georgia. The fun
begins is open to any well behaved pet and their humans, or to anyone that just loves
animals. Pet parade/walk at 12:30, Pets Gone Wild reptile show and petting booth, North
Georgia Zoo’s Safari Show at 1:30, an on-site rabies clinic and “Ask the Vet” booth with
Northeast Veterinary Hospital, AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing with Hollie Autry,
Cornelia Police Department K-9 Unit demonstration with “Cobra”, silly pet contests,
mobile adoptions with Saving the Animals of NE Georgia (S.A.N.G.), Habersham
Humane Society, pet CPR demonstrations, raffles for great prizes,area pet vendors, kids
activities and much more.

March 19th - Pet Wellness and Vaccine Clinic at  Riverstone Animal Hospital.
Sponsored by Riverstone Animal Hospital and the Canton Paw Park Association. All
proceeds benefit Canton Paw Park. Two packages offered. (Cash or Credit Only)
Canine $59: Vet Exam, Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming, Rabies Vaccine,
DHPP Vaccine, Kennel Cough Vaccine. Feline $39: Vet Exam, Fecal Test, Deworming,
Distemper Combo Vaccine. No appointments.

April 2nd - "Feathered Friends Benefit Block Party" from  10am-6pm at Red Barn, 2113
Harding Rd, Augusta.  America's largest Parrot Rescue & Sanctuary is having a benefit
block party hosted by
Vic's Riders in Augusta. Parrot lovers and motorcycle lovers are all
invited to meet the birds at the event, enjoy food, bike show, poker run and more. www.
featheredfriendforever.org is home to about 800 endangered/exotic parrots of all
species. Please attend or send a donation via the website. Thank you!!

April 4-8th - 2011 Pet P.A.L.S. Spring Break Camp. It’s time to put your child’s
knowledge to the test for a week of fun adventures, while discovering what life is like at
the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia.  Age: 6-11, Time: 9am-1pm, Cost: $100.

April 8th - Zebra Dash 5K Fun Run at 10:00 a.m.  This run is for all ages and is in
memory of Evidence the zebra.  The Zebra Dash will take runners and walkers through
the Noah's Ark animal habitat area. Register online here.  Pre-registration online or by
check is $20.00. Day of the race registration is $25.00. AND if you want to sleep in, skip
the run and still get the t-shirt, do the Zebra Zzzzzzz - send $35.00 as a donation (may be
in honor/memory of a loved one - person or animal). Note in the feedback section that the

April 16th -  Easter Egg Hunt - Hosted by the North Georgia House Rabbit Society
at The Rabbit Center 2280 Shallowford Rd, Marietta at 10am (weather permitting). $10

April 23rd - 2nd annual Alpharetta UGA Walk4Paws at beautiful Wills Park in Alpharetta.
Proceeds will go to the Arch Foundation for the University of Georgia and will benefit the
Canine Pathology and Oncology departments at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine.

May 7th - Pet Parade 2011. Make Tracks to Piedmont Park where thousands of paws
will walk for a cause at Atlanta Humane Society’s 21st annual Pet Parade – A Walk for
Animals. Come with (or without) your favorite furry friend for a morning of pet festivities!

May 7th -  PAWfest from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Tribble Mill Park, 2125 Tribble Mill
Pkwy, Lawrenceville. Each spring, Gwinnett Humane Society hosts PAWfest, a
community awareness event that strives to educate the public on pet-related issues while
celebrating the human-pet bond.  Events includeded are Pet-related demonstrations,
including frisbee, obedience, Educational booths focused on pet health, including
feeding, training, grooming, first aid, Low-cost Rabies and Microchip clinic,  3 Mile Pack
Hike starts at 9:30 a.m., Our exciting Silent Auction and PAWfest Raffle, Our popular Dog
Contests, Vendor and Pet Rescue booth.

May 14th -  Monte Carlo Night at Stars and Strikes, Cumming,GA. Monte Carlo Night, a
fundraising event for the Humane Society of Forsyth County No-Kill Shelter, will be from 6:
30 until midnight.  The event theme is “Until They All Have a Home.”  Games begin at 7:
30.  The cost is $20 to observe and enjoy hors d’ouevres; $75 to play and party, enjoy
hors d’ouevres and two drinks.  Prizes include a plasma TV, diamond/platinum watch,
artwork, gift baskets and more

May 29th - Cars For Canines, 12-5 pm at Champps Americana Restaurant, 7955 North
Point Parkway, in Alpharetta, GA. That's Right... This Car Show Has Gone To The Dogs!  
Benefiting the Canine Adoption Network. Car Show, Dog/Puppy Adoptions, Silent

June 11 - Southeast Pug Rescue Meet-n-Greet/Adoption Information Day and Dog
Wash Fundraiser at Roswell's Red Bandanna Pet Food. SEPRA has foster pugs
available for prospective adopters to meet (though no adoptions will actually take place
yet), and volunteers answer questions about the breed and adoption process.
Merchandise for sale, such as t-shirts, bumper stickers and more, with 100% of proceeds
going directly to SEPRA. Also, for a minimum $10 donation per dog, SEPRA volunteers
hand wash dirty dogs, of any breed. Red Bandanna provides shampoos, towels and
other necessities, and dogs are washed in special tubs inside the store. SEPRA
receives 80% of proceeds of dog washing.

June 18th - Georgia Dachshund Races 2011. Come have fun and support DREAM

June 24-25th - Noah's Ark Flashlight Safari, Locust Grove, GA - after dark tour of the
animal habitat, bonfire and wiener/marshmallow roast, take a ride on the Habitat Hopper
and feed the pasture animals, feed the Big Cats, and watch the alligators feed. Overnight
camp - bring your tent, sleeping bags,pillows - continental breakfast provided next day.

June 20th- "Dog Days" of Summer with the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia!
From hands-on experience with our adoption animals, to crafts and activities that center
around animal themes, this camp is puuurrrfect for the child that is interested in animals
Campers’ ages seven to eleven are welcome to join us from 9A.M. to 3P.M. Registration
fee is $150 per camper. Space is limited for these exciting camps! For further

FUN afternoon! We will have vendors from the pet community on hand showcasing their
products and services. And we’ll have loads of food, fun, music and of course, adorable
animals available for adoption. Free dog training workshops will also be offered at
designated times throughout the festival by the PAWS Senior Trainer.  If you are even
thinking about adding a new member to your family (or just like to be in the company of
furry friends). Don’t miss this fun and FREE event!!

June 25th - Wild West Fest!  Come One, Come All! Calling All Kids and their READing
Paws Dogs! The READing Paws Dogs are the very special guests at the Wild West Fest
benefiting the Cobb Libraries.  The entire family in invited to join us for a Wild West,
Cowboy filled adventure from 10:00 am through 3:00 pm at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245
Callaway Road, Marietta, GA.

June 25th - Bunny 201 Classes.  Bunny 201 covers caring for your rabbit on a routine
basis and ways to handle common ailments, including shutdown and bloat. In class, you
will learn how to give your bunny a home health exam, take a temperature, administer
fluids and oral medication and how to give injections. You will also learn what to include in
a home health toolkit and learn when you can treat an illness and when professional help
is needed.A $10 donation covers the cost of supplies, handouts, and a healthy treat
package for your buns. You must RSVP as the class is limited to 12 participants.

June 26th - Low-Cost Vaccination Clinic  from 1pm - 3pm at PAWS Atlanta
Please join us at our next low cost vaccine clinic. First come, first served. No checks or
bills over $20. All major credit cards accepted.
