help people cope with the death of a pet, the Atlanta Humane Society offers Mend-A-
Heart group counseling sessions. These hour-long sessions are held at the Shelter on the
second Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. in the Administrative Area.
Jan. 10th - "Kitty Kindergarten" 10:30AM-12PM. The Humane Society of Hall County is
pleased to announce its new program for cat owners, “Kitty Kindergarten.” Humane
Society volunteer Lena Turner will offer hour and a half workshops for cat and kitten
owners that are just clueless.  These workshops are for people only.. A $3 donation for
the animals of the Humane Society of Hall County is greatly appreciated for each

Jan. 10th - "Atlanta Reptile and Exotic Animal Show" will continue a six year tradition in
Georgia. Repticon returned with this show in twice in 2008, and plans are underway to
make the 2009 show even larger, so if you call the Atlanta area home, head out for the
biggest and most exciting reptile show in Georgia! Gwinnet County Fairground

Jan. 18th - "Wine and Cheese". Paws Atlanta is holding there monthly Wine and Cheese

Feb. 1- Mar. 31st,  Kid's Art Contest to promote "Be Kind to Animals Week"
Deadline for all Artwork is March 32st.  Ages K-12th are invited to join the Humane
Society of Hall County as they celebrate Be Kind to Animals Week.  Themes for the
artwork should range from kindness to animals, pet adoptions, to wildlife conservation,
and protecting endangered animals.  Winner’s artwork will be on display at the Humane
Society from April 13th to May 4th.  Winners are invited to attend an Awards Ceremony
on Sunday May 2nd, where awards will be given out.  Submissions form flyers which can

Broad St Monroe, It's True! Animal Planet's It's Me or the Dog star Victoria Stilwell is
coming to Petzone! It is a meet and greet and she will be signing books/dog collars/hats
and anything else (within reason) come on out and meet Victoria and other dog lovers!!!

Feb. 7th - "Lend a Hand 2 Our Furry Friends" at Jeffreys Sports Bar/105 Horizon
Dr/Suwanee.  Jeffreys Sports Bar and the Humane Society of Hall County announce  this
special event to benefit the homeless animals of Hall County.  Starting with a mini
adoption from 1-5:00 PM, with a buffet following at 6:00 PM, and live music from 10:00
PM.   Adoption fees are $70.00 (including spay/neuter & shots).  Admission to Jeffreys
for free buffet and fun is $10.00 ($5.00 is donation to HSHC) from 6-9:00 PM. Fantastic
raffle items will be available for you to bid on all day.  Raffle drawing will be at 9:00 pm,

to midnight where you will be surrounded by Oscar winning stars (appearing on a large

Feb. 27th - "A Knight with The Terracotta Army" to benefit PAWS Atlanta. Join us at

and Retirement Fund, Inc., Blue Horse Art  and Atlanta Weimariner Club Rescue are

April 1st - "Lights of Hope Campaign" sponsored by the Humane Society of Hall County.
The entire month of April is the perfect time to show how much you care for the people
and animals in your life.  The Humane Society of Hall County invites you to purchase a
light in honor of your loved one as a part of our “Lights of Hope” campaign.  For just

April 4th -  "ART FUNDRAISER TO BENEFIT ATLANTA ANIMAL WELFARE
COMMITTEE" from 7-9pm at  
Gathering Grounds Coffee House in Downtown Kirkwood
located at 1994 Hosea Williams Drive in Atlanta. Over 25 local, well-known artists
donated art in all mediums to raise money for the Atlanta Animal Welfare Committee.
Bidding on art pieces begins as soon as the doors open at 7 (cash or check only).  Door
prizes, light refreshments & wine. Artists include Atlanta favorites, gallery-represented
artists, and SCAD professors and alumni. One photographer donated a sitting with your
pet, which goes to the highest bidder! 100% of the night’s proceeds will go to the Atlanta
Animal Welfare Committee, an organization dedicated to providing free spay/neutering
and vaccinating of pets for neighbors in need. Come support art, animals, and the

April 4-5th - "Hotlanta Cat Show" at the Atlanta Farmer's Market Exhibit Hall, 16 Forest
Pkwy., Forest Park. Cat breeds from around the world compete for Championship points
and Titles. Bengal, Ragdoll, and Northern Lights Breed Congress. Cats will compete in
an agility ring for prizes and awards. Vendors will have fun cat toys and furniture. Benefits

April 18th - "219 The Show" - To raise awareness about Atlanta’s disproportionately
large homeless pet euthanasia rate and to raise money to support its programs to spay
and neuter and find homes for dogs and cats, AARF is holding 219: The Show at the
Fine Line Gallery in Atlanta.  The art will be sold in both silent and live auctions, with all
proceeds going to AARF’s rescue, spay and neuter and education programs. Contact

starts @ 2:00 pm,  5k Run starts @ 2:30 pm. 100% proceeds from this annual event
benefit the Humane Society of Hall County.  $20.00 fee before 4/13/09 and $25.00 for

April 24th-25th - "Noah's Ark Adventure Safaris" Camps start at 7:00 p.m. on Fridays
and go through about 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning. They include a Flashlight Safari in

the animals. In addition, you get to see Noah's Ark "behind the scenes." $100 tax

Dogwood Forest in Alpharetta is hosting a fundraiser for Happy Tails from 10am - 2pm.
Residents will be preparing for the event the entire week before. The event will include a

vendors will be onsite as well as pet adoptions with PAWS Atlanta. Proceeds from the

Humane Society of Forsyth County No-Kill Shelter. TimeL 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Location: at
the Laurel Springs Resident’s Clubhouse in Suwanee.  Enjoy a variety of wines and
fantastic food, provided by Stoney River Restaurant of Duluth ; bid on silent auction items

May 9-10th - "12th Annual Kennel Caper & Rabies Clinic" spouncered by Humane
Society of Hall County at Wal*Mart Gainesville/400 Shallowford Rd/Gainesville GA. The
HSHC 2009 “Kennel Caper” involves radio personality Bill Wilson from Jacobs Media
being “locked up” in a dog kennel in the Gainesville Super Wal*Mart parking lot from 8:00
am on Saturday, May 9 until we raise $12,721.00 or 3:00 pm Sunday, May 10, 2009
(whichever comes first).  The amount of $12,721.00 represents $1.00 for each animal
brought into the Humane Society of Hall County in 2008. Raffles, food, music, rabies

“bikers” on Saturday, May 16, 2009 for a great ride and a party with live entertainment, a
poker challenge, 50/50 raffle, silent auction and more.  Registration begins at 10:00 a.m.

May 30th - "Microchip & Rabies Clinic" North Hall High School/4885 Mt. Vernon
Rd/Gainesville GA  30506/in front of Agricultural Shop. 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Due to a
continuation of the rabies outbreak in Hall County in 2009, we are adding another clinic to
our schedule as well as an opportunity to get a microchip for your pet at the same time!
Rabies shots are $10.00 again this year.  Microchipping (including registration) is also
available for each pet for only $20.00.  Combo rate--have both done for only $25.00!For
the protection of all, every pet must be contained in a carrier or leashed.Puppies &

June 9th - "Pints for PAWS"-  Join us the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Stout Irish
Sports Pub in Buckhead.  10% of the days proceeds will go towards PAWS Atlanta.  Go

June 13th - "Begin Again Farms, Inc. Equine Shelter's June Benefit Trail Ride" 2035

June 13th -  "Daffy's Day Block Party" at  2160 Oakland Industrial Court, Suite 100,
Lawrenceville, GA. Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen will lose our warehouse sponsor in August,
so we are having a fund raiser for our warehouse lease and expenses so we can
continue to reach our goal of "Keeping families and their pets together."  We support
every Daffy's across the country in their start up expenses and insurance.  This is all
because of our original warehouse and office in Lawrenceville. This is Daffy's Pet Soup
Kitchen 1st Annual Daffy's Day.  We will have professional pet related vendors for
information on pet soup kitchen, feral cat trapping(TNR), pet food, health, grooming, pet
first aid, pet trusts, pet photographer on site taking photos, pet ID Tag/ pet recovery
system, pet sitters, and more, as well as food, games and fun.  Come join us for family
fun and bring the furry friends as well.  Event will start at 12 pm and run till 5 pm.  We will
be open from 9 am till 12 pm handing out food to our customers if you would like to stop
by and see what we are doing.

games.Campers will train dogs, socialize cats, listen to exciting guest speakers, learn

recognizes that teaching children to value animals through fun, hands-on activities
promotes respect and positive attitudes for all living beings.  Two separate weeklong
sessions are available from 9A.M. to 12P.M., June 22nd to June 26th (Ages 8-9) and July
6th to July 10th (Ages 10-12) for just $150 per Camper. Pre-registration is required.

County Humane Society... Come hungry!

July 11th - "Rabies Clinic & Flea Dip" at Sams Wholesale Club/3839 Mundy Mill
Rd/Oakwood. 8:30 to Noon sharp (no early birds). This is a chance for the community to
protect their animals with a low cost, $10.00 rabies shot.  Puppies and kittens must be 3
months old for rabies innoculations. We will also have a flea dip during the same hours.
Dogs over the age of 6 months may be dipped for $5.00 per animal to help protect again
fleas and ticks.  Sorry, we cannot dip cats. Benefits the Humane Society of Hall County.

July 11th - "Mend-a-Heart Grief Counseling" is available through the Atlanta Human
Society for those having to deal with the loss of a beloved pet. Led by a professional
counselor on the second Saturday of each month at the Shelter in the administrative area
at 11:00 a.m. The cost is $5.00 and no appointment is necessary.

July 14th - "Pints for PAWS"-  Join us the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Stout Irish
Sports Pub in Buckhead.  10% of the days proceeds will go towards PAWS Atlanta.  Go
for lunch or dinner and stay for trivia. Stout Irish Sports Pub is located in Buckhead at 56
East Andrews Drive, Suite 16, 30305

July 14th -  "Canine Cocktail Hour" at the Hotel Indigo. A unique experience for you to
share with your beloved pet, held every Tuesday 5-8 pm.

July 18th - "Senior Paws Children's Fashion Show" at  Zoo Atlanta. Senior Paws &
Furry Friends is a non-profit organization with a mission to build a cage-less haven for
abandoned, abused, and senior animals. They will hold a Children's Fashion Show at
Zoo Atlanta to benefit their fund raising effort. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for
children. The show starts promptly at 1:00pm

July 18th - "The Dog Days of Summer" featuring the American Cancer Society’s Bark
for Life. Use your “Paws for a Good Cause” with an evening of fun in Downtown
Greensboro. The event will feature Live Music and Entertainment, Dog Agility
Demonstrations, a Pet Parade, Luminary Ceremony, and more the benefit the American
Cancer Society. The shops will stay open late to help you beat the summer heat. Join us
4-8pm for the 1st Annual Bark For Life event at The Dog Days of Summer Block Party.

July 21th -  "Canine Cocktail Hour" at the Hotel Indigo. A unique experience for you to
share with your beloved pet, held every Tuesday 5-8 pm.

July 25th - "Ride for Paws Motorcycle Ride" at Gainesville Motorsports/2750 Browns
Bridge Rd/Gainesville. Registration is 9:00 am-10:00 am/Ride starts around 10:30 am to
approximately noon. We welcome all bikers for $25.00 entry fee per biker.  Extra riders
also welcome at $10.00 per rider.  Both entry fees include a free custom designed t-shirt!
Various vendors, silent auctions, and a 50/50 raffle. Benefits the Humane Society of Hall
County.

July 25th - "Dog Wash Fund Raiser" to benefit the Golden Retriever Rescue of Atlanta.
Event to be held at the Red Bandana Pet Store Sand Springs. 11am-4pm.

July 28th -  "Canine Cocktail Hour" at the Hotel Indigo. A unique experience for you to
share with your beloved pet, held every Tuesday 5-8 pm.

July 30th - "Yapppy Hour"  East Andrews 6-8. Where did summer go?  It's the gray time
between summer and the start of school now. End it at East Andrews with your best
friend because dogs are welcome!  Optional $5 donation to PAWS Atlanta gets your
pooch one of Chef Paul's gourmet dog biscuits!Home made dog treats, dozens of new
faces, drink specials and a large deck to relax on.  

Aug. 1st - "Happy Tails Presents Comedy Night"  @ Nancy G's Cafe 4920 Roswell
Road, NE Atlanta. Enjoy 4 comedians from Live Comedy Atlanta helping Happy Tails to
empower pets to help people! $15/pp in advance or $20/pp cash at door. Food/drink

Aug. 7th -  "Art for Animals" 7pm at the Paces Ferry Vet Clinic.  Hosted by Dr. Whittle of
Paces Ferry Veterinary Clinic, this event features the art of Christina Genth, illustrator of
The Messy Monkey Tea Party, for guests to enjoy. Guests are also invited to dinner
following the event at The Grape in Vinings. Proceeds from the sale of art will benefit the
rescue efforts of Atlanta Pet Rescue.

Aug. 8th - "8th Annual Putting for Pets Mini Golf Tournament" at  The Oaks/3709 Whiting
Rd/Gainesville. This is a fun outing for the entire family.  Players who preregister will
receive a custom designed T-shirt included in entry fee.  Player fee is $15.00.  Four or
more players registered together can play for only $12.50 per player.  Groups of 10 or
more registered together can play for only $10.00 per player.  Same day registration

Aug. 29th - "Dog Days of Summer"  A community event to benefit Atlanta Pet Rescue
8am at the Great Harvest Bread Co. at 3246 Atlanta Road in Smyrna and ending at
Taylor-Brawner Park in Smyrna. Bring your pups (and/or non-fur kids!) and your walking
shoes, and come out to help raise awareness and money for your favorite organization:
Atlanta Pet Rescue! K-9 Coach will be available after the walk for free training tips and
advice! Coffee, doggie treats and fun give-aways! All dogs on leash, please. Special dog
