Sept 6th -  "Bark in the Park" The Atlanta Braves are inviting fans to bring their "best
friends" to the ballgame! Braves play the Cincinnati Reds at 1:30 p.m. Deadline to
register is September 3. Per-registration is required!

Sept. 10th -  "Fayette County Humane Society Night at Partners II Pizza"  6-9pm in
Fayetteville at the Publix Shopping Center! Portion of proceeds to benefit the Fayette
County Humane Society... Come hungry!

Sept. 12th - "BARK & BOOGIE BALL by the Humane Society of Forsyth County"  This is
a party!  So start with a drink at the Cash Bar, browse and participate in our silent
auction, nibble on hors d'oeuvres, enjoy an elegant gourmet buffet dinner at The
Metropolitan Club off of Windward Parkway. The BARK & BOOGIE BALL will be a black
tie (optional) affair.  This year’s main entertainment with be provided by BandX.  Our
silent auction will feature unique, one of a kind items: trips, golf outings and collector's
items in every category.  You never know which celebrity may show up to surprise
everyone!  All funds raised will aid the Humane Society of Forsyth County.  We receive no
public funding; only generous donations from caring folks like you.

Sept. 12th - "S.H.A.R.E. House Paws-an-Effect Dog Show" at  Deer Lick Dog Park in
Douglasville. S.H.A.R.E. House Inc., hosts its first annual Paws-an-Effect Dog Show from
10 a.m. until 2 p.m. to benefit domestic violence victims. Come show off your dog and/or
watch others in this canine family friendly event! In addition to the dog show, festivities will
include vendor booths, dog adoptions, a micro-chipping clinic, obedience training,
demonstrations, music and giveaways by B98.5 FM, a dog grooming salon, children’s
activities, a dog playing field, delicious goodies, door prizes, awards, and more! Email

Sept. 12th - "Mend-a-Heart Grief Counseling" is available through the Atlanta Human
Society for those having to deal with the loss of a beloved pet. Led by a professional
counselor on the second Saturday of each month at the Shelter in the administrative area
at 11:00 a.m. The cost is $5.00 and no appointment is necessary.

Sept. 12th - "Charity Wine Tasting" to benefit Adopt A Golden Atlanta at the Marietta

Sept. 13th - "Senior at Seven: Keeping your Dog & Cat Young at Heart" at PetSmart
(Loganville, Ga)  FREE health seminar on caring for your Senior Dog or Cat presented
by Dr Christopher Inniss. Questions and Answers, Product demonstrations, giveaways,

Sept. 18-19th - "Wags to Riches". Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption, Inc. is delighted to
announce its 7th annual benefit sale from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm and Saturday,
September 19th from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Early birds can shop on Thursday evening,
September 17th from 5pm until 7pm for a $20 donation at the door. All proceeds from the
sale will benefit Atlanta Pet Rescue. Items for sale will include floor samples from
merchandise mart vendors, antiques, hand-painted furniture, outdoor lighting, vintage
records and books, antique lamps, oil paintings, antique iron chairs, designer clothes, 74
pieces of handmade art glass: vases, bowls, and much, much more.  For more

Sept. 19th - "Dog Wash" to benefit SmallDog Rescue and Humane Society, Inc.
at the Red Bandanna, 216 Johnson Ferry Road, Sandy Springs. Come one come all to a
dog wash hosted by Red Bandanna to help raise funds for SmallDog Rescue and
Humane!  $10.00 per dog, and we do all the work!  This is always a fun event!

Sept. 19 & 20 - "Dive-In at The Ranch" The Canine Ranch, Canton, Ga at The Canine
Ranch is hosting it's first annual dock diving tournament .  There are three events -
distance jumping, vertical jumping, and a fun game called Speed Doggie (we use a radar
gun to determine the fastest dog on the dock). Distance jumping has 5 divisions, so even
novice dogs can enter and win trophies and prizes.   Please visit our website to find out

Sept. 21st - "PSI's "Pet Sitter Stop" Atlanta Meeting" at Crown Plaza Atlanta-Marietta:
1775 Parkway Place Marietta. Pet Sitters International is hosting its next "pet sitter stop"
at the Crowne Plaza Atlanta-Marietta.  This meeting is open to pet sitters and
prospective pet sitters, who are invited to come learn more about the industry and tips for
business success.  It's the perfect opportunity to learn from industry professionals and

Oct. 2nd - "Fifth Annual Lint Roller Party 2009", benefiting LifeLine Animal Project. The
Lint Roller Party will be held at Puritan Mill, located at 916 Lowery Blvd, Atlanta, 30318  
and will feature live entertainment, a premier silent auction, and food and drink for party-
goers and their canine companions. More than 500 people and many furry friends are
expected to attend this fun event, which gets rolling at 7 pm.

Oct. 3rd - "HowlOWeenie Dachshund Festival" at Cabbagetown Park, Tye Street and
Kirkwood Avenue, Atlanta, GA.  Contests, hot dogs, live music, all to celebrate
dachshunds and benefit DREAM Dachshund Rescue.

Oct. 3rd - "The Cherokee County Humane Society 6th annual dinner and auction" 5:
00pm - 9:00pm. Get ready for an exciting dinner and auction! Come join us! Help the
animals and network with friends a like. Just imagine how many animals can benefit from
a couple of hours socializing. You can purchase tickets online or at our thrift store
location, 5900 bells ferry road Acworth, GA 30102. Donation fee per ticket: $25. Your
donation fee includes;  Dinner. Mixed green salad with creamy balsamic vinaigrette,
bistro filet with red wine demi, chicken with a cream mushroom, portobello mushroom
risotto, garlic whipped potatoes, seasoned vegetable medley and a Belgian milk
chocolate mousse for dessert. Tickets will also be avail to purchase the night of the event

Oct. 3rd. "Fayette Pet Fair" Scurry on over to the Gazebo in downtown Fayetteville
from 11:00am – 3:00pm for a blessing of the animals and pet fair in honor of St
Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals. The actual blessing will start at 2:00pm. There
will be pony rides, a petting zoo, a clown with face painting and balloons, pet adoptions,
police canines, music, food from Chick-fil-A and Bruster’s and lots of fun! There will also
be prizes awarded for the pet with the best costume and much more! All species of pets
are welcome on a short leash, carrying case or hand-held. Sponsored by The Episcopal

Oct. 4th - "Dogtoberfest" - 2pm -6pm. Mutt Strutt starting at the Taj Ma-Hound Bakery for
Dogs  (707 D East Lake Dr., Decatur GA 30030) and ending on The Solarium lawn (321
West Hill St., Decatur GA 30030). Costumes Contest, Microchipping, Trainers,
Marketplace and so much more! Registration begins at 1:45 at Taj Ma-Hound. Join us for
a day of fun filled activities for you and your dog! We even have fun events for the kids so
please come out and support our first annual event! Admission is free but we will be
accepting donations for food, beverages and Dogtoberfest activities. Proceeds will

Oct. 10th - "Athletes Helping Athletes 5K" 2015 Vaughn Road (Barrett Summit Office
Park), Kennesaw, GA. email = 5K@greyhoundadoption.org.  This race is being held to
raise funds to support SEGA's efforts to help former Greyhound racers. Your entry fee will
be used to transport, then vet and house the retired Greyhounds until they find their
forever homes. Our ultimate goal is to find forever homes for all former racers. Phone:

Oct. 10th - "A Posh PAWty for PAWS Atlanta" emceed by Victoria Stilwell of the hit TV
Series "It's Me or The Dog".  At The Mason Murer Art Gallery. Ms. Stilwell will be sharing
stories from her hit show on Animal Planet, behind the scene training tips and more!
There will also be a silent auction with dozens of pet products, weekend get aways and
gift certificates.  All of the proceeds will benefit PAWS Atlanta.

Oct. 10th - "Memorial Day at the Horse Rescue". Horse Rescue, Relief & Retirement
Fund, Inc. 1768 Newt Green Road, Cumming, 30040. It is a day dedicated to
Memorializing those friends who have passed and Honoring those still with us, two and
four legged. Family Fun, Live Music, Food, Games, Prizes, Raffles, Gifts, Begin Your
Holiday Shopping, Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Antique Motorcycle Show and More! Bring a
picture (optional), information and a donation for your loved, one present or past, to honor
or memorialize them on our Memorial Board (also to be listed on our special web page).

Oct. 16-17th - "Buckhead Music Festival... A Cause for Paws".  The Buckhead Music
Festival is a two day event with 16 bands whose main focus is to unite musicians, bands
and music fans for the cause of the less fortunate through the gift of live music. For the
second year, the Atlanta Humane Society has been selected to be the recipient of the
funds raised.

Oct. 17th - Georgia Canine for Independance will be at at Walmart (Trickum Rd. & Hwy
92 Woodstock) from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The GCI dogs will be there to raise
awareness about service dogs and the rights of people with disability and to perform
assistance dog demonstrations! Come see us!

Oct. 24th - "Black Cat Beer Bonanza" from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Atlanta Brewing
Company (2323 Defoor Hills Road NW, Atlanta).  Join Atlanta Animal Rescue Friends
(AARF) at the Black Cat Beer Bonanza! The Halloween-themed event will raise
awareness about the plight of black cats, which, along with black dogs, are often
overlooked in rescue and adoption programs. The event will also raise money for AARF's
cat adoption program for 2010. Cost: $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Your ticket will
include a brewery tour, a tasting of award-winning, locally produced craft beers, and light

Oct. 31st. - "HayDay 2009 And Halloween at the Horse Rescue" 1768 Newt Green
Road, Cumming, 30040. Pony rides, arts and craft area, food, petting zoo, hay ride, barn
tours, shopping, hay to purchase for the horses, drawings for prizes - family fun for
everyone! Meet the horses. Find some beautiful arts, crafts for purchase and T-shirts.
Start your holiday shopping now!  Come enjoy the day as we celebrate the coming of fall
and gathering of Hay for the horses for winter. We use about 200 square bales of hay per
month, and with a cost of $10 per bale we need your help

Oct. 31st - "First Annual Halloween Costume Contest" at Inman Park Pet Works 2006
914A Austin Avenue, 30307.  Halloween has gone to the Dogs! Is it a trick or a treat?
Come find from 11am to 4pm. Bring your pup in costume and get a free Halloween
doggie treat. Pose for a picture that will be posted on our Facebook page to be voted on
by our fans. The winner will receive a full photo shoot with Seinen Photography and a gift
card from IPPW worth $25.   

Nov. 14th - "K9 Reading Program - GA Canine for Independance"  at Foxtale Book
Shoppe at 11am.  This special program provides an opportunity for children of all ages to
read aloud to specially-trained dogs, who provide a safe, nonjudmental environment and
motivation to create a unique excitement about books. Research has shown that such
programs increase reading test scores, increase self-esteem, and decrease school
absenteeism. These sessions are open to the public and are held at the Foxtale Book
Shoppe Story Time Classroom in Woodstock.  An additional therapy canine will be
available for private sessions geared towards providing one-on-one instruction for
children with learning disabilities or reading below grade level. This program is by
appointment only and may be scheduled by contacting Ramona N. Executive Director at

Nov. 19th - "8th Annual Paws for Cocktails".  Join Atlanta Pet Rescue for a evening of
friends, fun and celebration from 5:30pm until 10pm at Park Tavern at Piedmont Park.
The event will include hot appetizers, a free drink ticket, raffle, and a live and silent
auction. Admission is a $15 donation at the door.
